“Creative space” is an opportunity for arts development officers, planners, economic development
and regeneration officers, creative industries development officers, agencies and business
advisers, HE business development managers, RDA officers, Arts Council officers, property
developers and workspace managers, to access the information and tools needed to help creative
workspace developments happen and succeed where you are.
Made possible by Arts Council England’s creative workspace project, Inhabit, this seminar
will share with you knowledge and learning from two years of research and discussion with experts
about the importance of creative workspace to creative production and to economic and social
regeneration and what makes for sustainable workspace for now and into the future.
From June to August 2008 there will be a series of 7 events at locations around the country:
The Baltic, Newcastle, 10 June; Avonmouth Venue, London, 17 June; Phoenix Arts, Brighton, 24 June;
Lakeside Arts, Nottingham, 1 July; A Foundation, Liverpool, 7 July; Watershed, Bristol, 5 August;
The Public, West Bromwich, 12 August.
The seminar will cover:
- You’ll hear about Inhabit’s key findings and get to see and use the Inhabit toolkit that
incorporates the project’s research as practical information and advice alongside the =mc’s
learning tools and techniques
- Get an understanding of how creative workspace can deliver on some of your priorities and how
you can help take forward development projects
The programme will be delivered by the Management Centre (=mc), who specialise in training and
consultancy for the not-for-profit sector -

Each location will also host “Your space” a 3 day residential or non-residential course for
people already managing and/or working in creative workspaces, and those wanting to do so –
overlapping with the “Creative Space” 1 day seminar to give you an opportunity to meet and network
with potential development partners, creative workspace managers and creative practitioners.
