Artsplan, the training and publications department of Artswork and in-house training provider
for ENYAN (English National Youth Arts Network), is delighted to be offering two youth arts courses
which will run at the new Yorkshire Artsplan Training Centre- Kala Sangam in Bradford.
‘Using the Arts with Young Refugees and Asylum Seekers’ 11th June 08, 10 am- 4.15 pm, Kala
Sangam, Bradford
‘Using the Arts with Young Refugees and Asylum Seekers’ is a one day course and provides a
practical exploration of the role and use of arts with young refugees and asylum seekers. The
course begins with an exploration of the barriers to social and educational inclusion experienced
by young people when they begin a new life in Britain and explores the role of the arts in
contributing to inclusion.
During the training day participants will sample a number of practical approaches, which are
accessible to young people who are not fluent in spoken English. They will also explore different
ways of developing and adapting these approaches to youth arts work with young refugees and asylum
seekers. Most approaches begin with drama or movement though there will be exploration of other art
forms such as video and visual arts.
‘Creative Facilitation’ 15th October 08, 10 am- 4.15 pm, Kala Sangam, Bradford
The ‘Creative Facilitation’ course provides an introduction to a creative approach to group
facilitation. It aims to encourage, develop and inspire those with responsibility to lead others
through a facilitative process, be it for the purposes of team building, consultation,
idea-generation or training. Throughout the day we will be using a number of different interactive
exercises and games in order to illustrate content. We will also look at group dynamics,
communication issues and different learning styles in order to explore how these might be of
impact.
All participants will receive a certificate of attendance upon successful completion of the
course and a wealth of practical resources. Prices for each course, which include lunch and
refreshments, range from £150 to £110, with bursaries available.
Please also remember that ENYAN members can receive a 5% discount on all Artsplan
publications and training!
