The Open Studios is an opportunity for artists from the East Riding & Hull to exhibit
together in a joint event. It acts as a flagship for quality creative practitioners from around our
region, which will bring the public to your door, expand your networking opportunities and give you
a chance to welcome customers old and new. Last year, 52 participating artists received over 6500
visits and between them achieved sales of over £21,000.
The Open Studios asks the participating artists to display, demonstrate and explain their
skills to the public from their place of work over the first two weekends in October. Workspaces in
the past have ranged from a lighthouse to garden sheds and garages to more specialised workshops.
In fact the visitors are intrigued by the range of working situations and practices, however quirky
or formal and were surprised at the quality of the work in the region, one commented "Brilliant,
had a great time - enthusiasm everywhere, a breath of fresh air - food for the soul.”
