A major new annual selling event in the North of England, celebrating the very best in
contemporary craft, are inviting applications from accomplished designer–makers.
The Great Northern Contemporary Craft will be a high profile, high quality selected event
that will showcase the finest contemporary craft coming out of the North and give makers from other
parts of the country an opportunity to establish a northern client base. We will present over 100
of the most innovative and influential designer-makers in the UK - both established and emerging -
and give them a platform to sell their work directly to the public. To ensure high standards and
cutting-edge craft, all exhibitors will be selected by an independent panel of craft curators to
create an inspiring mix of ceramics, jewellery, glass, wood, textiles, silver, metalwork, basketry,
paper and more.
The Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair, a three day event with a preview evening,
including an awards ceremony, will be held between 23rd-26th October 2008 in the beautiful setting
of The Manchester Grammar School, a fabulous venue with ample free parking and good access.
This will be an excellent opportunity to sell and promote your work to a new audience of
buyers and collectors.
Exhibition stands from £350; shared applications welcome.
Further information and application packs will be available from March 1st; these can be

We are placing a “Call for Entries” in the March/ April edition of Craft magazine, which will go
on sale from the end of February. However, we are keen to promote The Great Northern Contemporary
Craft Fair to all designer- makers are therefore contacting guilds and associations asking if they
would be willing to send out a Call for Entries to their members via databases, websites,
newsletters or other publications.
We will be advertising for exhibitors from March 2008 and the closing date for applications
will be 30th April. We would be extremely grateful if you could inform us of the following:
- If there are any ways you could help us promote the fair initially to potential exhibitors and later to potential customers
- If there are any deadlines, regarding publications and emails/ bulletins etc
- The formats in which you require the information e.g. email attachment/ hard copy etc
- Any limits, for example on the number of words etc
We are working extremely hard to make The Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair a success for
everyone involved and hope it is something that may be of interest to you and your members.
Should you require any more details please don’t hesitate to contact us.
With many thanks and kind regards,
