Businesses across Yorkshire are being urged to take advantage of an offer from upcoming creative
talent from Doncaster College.
Companies can commission students from the College’s Faculty of Arts to produce artwork for
display in reception areas, board rooms and meeting rooms as part of a ‘Creative Juices Business
Challenge’.
It comes after an extremely successful pilot project involving arts students and three local
firms – Clyde Materials Handling, QED Consulting and Pegler – to develop paintings, sculptures,
film clips and photographs intended to express the core values of each company.
Ideas came from students on the College’s various BA (Hons) programmes in Visual
Communication, Animation and Games, Photography and Fine Art.
Students met with company representatives on their premises and were given a real business
brief. They then researched and developed ideas to produce their final pieces of work. Winning
designs were chosen at a special judging evening at High Melton’s Cream Gallery in May.
A College spokesman said: “The pilot project was extremely successful and competitive. It
gave our students the chance to work in a real situation reflecting business practice”.
“We hope more companies across the region take up this fantastic opportunity to work with our
students and improve their office space with great artwork.”
Kathy Denton, Director of QED Consulting, said: “Being involved with the Creative Juices
Project gave us a completely different perspective on the work that we do everyday and the sort of
company we aspire to be and how we best visually project that.
All the pieces that were created around the QED Consulting brief were different and thought
provoking and inspiring. We can’t wait to place our chosen pieces of art in pride of place within
our offices and we are sure that they will become a positive talking point for internal staff and
external visitors alike.”
