Elemental Images
Elemental Images is a
contemporary art business founded by Huddersfield-based artist Ali White to create original
artworks for corporate and domestic interiors and exteriors.
Are they paintings? Is it photography? The answer, according to Ali, is neither – and both.
Officially known as 'lens-based' digital art, he sees it as 'painting by other means' using
fragments of photographic images. As Ali sees it, this is the most exciting of the emerging new
visual art forms because it brings together the different disciplines and expressive potentials of
both photography and painting and unites them in a single medium. And in the process it opens up
extraordinary new potentials for the creation of artworks based on any subject matter for any
setting at virtually any size on almost any material.

Giclée Printing in Huddersfield
My name is Ali White and I am a photographer and digital artist based in Huddersfield. I have a
beautiful Giclée printer that I bought to print my own work, but also to provide a service for
other artists. If you are not familiar with the process, the quality in terms of resolution, colour
range and density is really quite extraordinary.
My
rates are as reasonable as I believe you'll find anywhere - I'm an artist first and a printer
second. I also like to work alongside the artist wherever possible, to make sure you get what you
want, and to help the printing become what it ought to be : part of the creative process.
I can work on digital files or just print them as they come. But I have also scanned and
photographed oils, watercolours and mixed media for dozens of artists from around Huddersfield,
Leeds and Sheffield - usually to create limited edition prints. (I can also put one of your own
photographs onto canvas and make it the best birthday or Christmas present ever.)
The choice is between archival quality matt cotton artist canvas, rough textured
('watercolour') fine art paper, and premium satin photo paper. As a rough guide to prices, an A3
print on any of these materials is around £10 (there is no so-called 'set-up' charge). An A2 print
(60 x 42 cms) on canvas, varnished and stretched around a 44mm frame, from a digital file, is £38
in total. I can print up to one metre on the shortest side.
