The South Yorkshire Filmmakers Network and Sheffield Independent Film present Sound and Vision 1.0, an event that explores the many intersections of film and music.
Saturday March 18th 2006 at Sheffield Independent Film, Brown Street, Sheffield (close to Sheffield Hallam Union).
With doors opening at 7pm, the event will kick off at 7:30pm with a screening of short films that share the theme of 'music'. This might mean the central characters are musicians or work in the music industry or it might mean that the film's narrative is constructed according to certain 'musical' principles. It might even mean the film is simply 'about' music.
The second part of the screening will showcase the best new music videos from local musical acts and filmmakers. This will include videos produced on a very low budget for relatively unknown acts and videos produced on a significant budget for well-established acts.
A short film TBC will then be screened and accompanied by a live score from Atoness, an electronic rock duo from Sheffield.
Vib Gyor (www.myspace.com/vibgyor), a highly acclaimed act from Leeds, will perform a 30 minute set of their unusual, soundscape-oriented, cinematically-influenced music. They will be accompanied by a live mix of visuals crafted from a three-camera set up in the studio.
Nine More Lies, one of Sheffield's most exciting and unique new bands, will play a 45 minute set which will be accompanied by live visuals and by atmospheric video content designed and produced by Sort Of...Films Ltd and mixed live by The Media Lounge.
Throughout the night, there will be an opportunity for networking between those working or starting out in the film and music industries locally.
The event is free to full members of The South Yorkshire Filmmakers Network.
Advance tickets are £4, available from Jacks Records (Division Street) or from Ed at SYFN – (07968 902293 | ed@syfn.org.uk) or from Nine More Lies (07764 532922 | info@ninemorelies.com).
