Former Director General of the BBC, Greg Dyke, will be speaking to delegates at a
ground-breaking conference focusing on how arts and cultural venues and events can become more
welcoming to families.
Aimed at arts managers, artists, marketing professionals, education co-ordinators, arts
organisations and venue programmers, the seminar is taking place on 5 October at Lakeside Arts in
Nottingham.
The conference is organised by Arts Council England and Cultivate, and will feature Greg Dyke
alongside other family friendly experts and practitioners. Family orientated performers have also
been commissioned for the day.
Attendees will have the opportunity to discuss some of the issues surrounding 'family
friendliness' and to learn how they can work towards becoming more welcoming to families.
Peter Knott, Director of Arts and Development at Arts Council England, East Midlands, says:
'We are entering into an age where arts and other service organisations should be considering how
to make their venues and events more accessible to the whole family.
'Family groups come in all sizes and age ranges. Grandparents and other relatives and carers
are often included as part of the family group and this needs to be recognised and catered for. '
Places cost £75 per person, and bookings can be made at
