Creative & Cultural Skills' Chair appointed Government Ambassador The Government has appointed Creative & Cultural Skills' Chairman, Tony Hall to the Apprenticeship Ambassadors Network which was set up to champion Apprenticeships. Reporting directly to the Secretary of State for Education and Skills, the Chancellor and the Chairman of the Learning and Skills Council, this influential group will play a major part in helping to shape and push the apprenticeship agenda across a variety of sectors. The network was created to follow up the work carried out by the Apprenticeships Task Force in its consultation phase between 2003 and 2005 and will consider the following issues: - small firms engagement with Apprenticeships;
- specific problems faced by some sectors in the delivery of Apprenticeships;
- the effectiveness of the Apprenticeships framework, key skills, NVQs and technical certificates;
- policy approach to raising completion rates and promoting diversity in Apprenticeships.
The network was launched by Sir Roy Gardner, chairman of the group and Ruth Kelly MP, Secretary of State for Education and Skills on 19 April 2006 at Her Majesty's Treasury with the following membership: - Mark Andrews, Chief Executive, NG Bailey

Tony Hall continues to chair the Creative Apprenticeship Task Force at Creative & Cultural Skills, which is currently driving an innovative model for apprenticeships in advertising, crafts, cultural heritage, design, music and performing arts. Further details will be announced shortly.
