We would like to invite you to view the final outcome of our journalistic trip around the North
of England on the world wide web;
A web-based public art project by media agency Numiko, with artists Bryan and Laura Davies.

Bryan and Laura Davies have developed the 'Expo' from their experiences of the north gained
during a one-month road trip undertaken in January 2008. It is a fantastical cultural destination,
housed in a series of virtual pavilions set on a pier, off the coastline of northern England.
Themed pavilions are dedicated to Geography, Culture, Economy, Society and International, each
contains 20 exhibits that convey the artists' ideas and experiences.
The Wonderful North has been commissioned by Arts Council England on behalf of the Northern
Way. The Wonderful North is a new addition to the portfolio of public art works funded by the
Welcome to the North, public art programme. Welcome to the North includes other public artworks
such as Anthony Gormley's Another Place and Richard Wilson¹s Turning the Place Over. The Northern
Way has invested £4.4m into the Welcome to the North programme, which forms part of an investment
priority, Market the North to the World, which ultimately aims to improve perceptions of the North
and attract overseas visitors to the North of England.
